Ephesus & Pamukkale Tour From Fethiye

  Last Updated: July 8, 2024

Ephesus & Pamukkale tour from Fethiye is a 2-day tour to historical sites and the white travertines of Pamukkale.

We believe it’s worth spending every minute of your holiday in an interesting way. The two-day Efes-Pamukkale bus tour with hotel accommodation is a unique offer for those who are sure that a holiday should not pass between the beach and the hotel.

The incomparable white travertine baths of Pamukkale filled with turquoise water, hydrothermal springs, the ancient city of Hierapol, the stunning buildings of the ancient city of Ephesus – all this you will see in one tour. To save time we suggest you go on a two day tour with an overnight stay in one of the best hotels in Pamukkale.

Early in the morning our comfortable coach will pick you up and accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide you will embark on an exciting journey. We would like to point out that it is very interesting to observe the changing terrains, fields, farms and architecture in different regions when you travel through Turkey by bus. The bus will make stops along the way for your convenience. At one of them you will have breakfast (price included). The journey will be smooth and comfortable.

The first city you will visit is Ephesus. It is famous for one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Temple of Artemis of Ephesus, your guide will tell you about its ancient history. During the day, you will also visit the Library of Celsus, Ephesus’ landmark site, whose colonnade you have undoubtedly seen in engravings and photographs from different eras.

Another historical monument on your way is the Ephesus Grand Theatre, a nearly 2500 year old building. This building could hold up to 25000 spectators during performances, readings and gladiatorial fights. Legend says that apostle Paul preached to the first Christians there. Paul preached to the first Christians. The theatre is still in excellent condition. You will then visit many more historical monuments, including the house of St. Mary.

At the end of the first day, you will head to Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage site. There you will stay in one of the local hotels. Dinner at the hotel is also included. In the morning, after having breakfast (included), you will set out to discover the amazing Pamukkale Park. There you will visit with your guide the travertines, hydrothermal pools, the ancient city of Hierapolis, you will also be given free time.

In the afternoon you will leave for your return journey and be back at your hotel by the evening. The price of this tour includes: all transfers, two breakfasts, dinner, guide accompaniment, all entrance fees (except Cleopatra Pool) and hotel accommodation.

A unique two day tour is offered for you to enjoy the ancient cities of Ephesus and Hierapolis and the white travertines of Pamukkale.  Ephesus, the second largest city of the Roman empire was founded almost 2000 years BC by the Greek Ionians from Athens, and it has withstood time, almost intact, for your pleasure today.  St Paul wrote a letter to the Ephesians, which is mentioned in the Christian bible.  Of even more interest the third ecumenical council was conducted here, wherein the books that make up the Old Testament of the Bible, were chosen.

If that wasnt enough for history buffs, St John the Divine (he wrote the book of Revelation in a basilica just outside Ephesus) ended his days here, and the Virgin Mary was said to have spent the last days of her life in a house close to the city.  Given that the prophet Jesus was said to have commended his mothers care to his brother John, this is a highly likely possibility.

You will be able to walk in the footsteps of St Paul and St John down through Ephesus’ ancient streets to the Library of Celcius to the Baths and the vast amphitheatre that seated over 24000 people.  Even older than this, the Temple of Artemis is based outside the city perimeter, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Fethiye Ephesus Pamukkale Tour Itinerary

Once you have been picked up by one of the comfortable, air conditioned vehicles, you will be heading north the 270 kilometres to Ephesus in all its ancient wonder.  You will be accompanied by a professional tour guide who has trained to give you all the correct historical information about your visit.  You will be able to explore Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary and this is just day one!

You will then travel to your overnight accommodation in Pamukkale town, which should be overlooking the white calcium rock pools, ready for your day in Pamukkale and another, albeit different, ancient city. This time Hierapolis, an important city famed for its healing waters.

After breakfast in Pamukkale you will have the chance to climb and admire the travertines, those rock pools of calcified blue water, as you reach the top and arrive at the beautiful gardens that precede the ancient city.  Indeed the climb to the top is so breathtaking (not literally of course) that you may even forget there is a city there, until you reach the top of the travertines and realise there is even more to see.

The rock pools are formed by calcified water over the centuries.  You can swim in the deeper pools or simply cool your heels as you walk through the shallow.  A slow leisurely climb and you will reach the gardens and the  Roman bathhouse museum.  From here to the ancient Cleopatras Pool (and yes the ancient queen is alleged to have spent time here) you can take in the ambience along the way.   The pool waters are a hot 36 degrees, said to cure many ailments from kidney or liver disease to heart and skin conditions.  Cleopatra may have taken the healing waters, but today the discerning tourist can walk in the footsteps of ancient royalty.

When the wonders of Pamukkale and Hierapolis have been experienced, your coach will be ready to make the journey back over the lesser distance of 230 kilometres back to Fethiye and your hotel.

Very young children may not enjoy the sightseeing, but for the tourist with a love of history, religious or otherwise, the contrast of two ancient cities will amaze you, together with the natural rock formations that are practically unique to Turkey.

Anything else i should know?

This tour is not for those with mobility difficulties.  There is little shelter in the city of Ephesus and good walking shoes are essential.  In Pamukkale there is a touristic centre where restaurants, cafes, shops and WCs are available along with the well laid out gardens, where benches and tables are there for your comfort.

Can i climb the cascades at Pamukkale?

Footwear of any kind is not allowed to be worn while climbing the travertines.  This is to protect the rocks and keep them white.  One of the other known place in the world where you will find these calcified rocks is in Yellowstone Park in the USA.  The wearing of footwear causes discoloration of the travertines thus Turkey is the only place in nature where you will find this amazing wonder of nature.
