Marmaris Fethiye Tour

  Last Updated: July 12, 2024

Marmaris Fethiye tour is a 12-hour day trip to Saklikent Canyon, Oludeniz beach with a paragliding option from Babadag mountain.

Fethiye is another popular Turkish resort that is just south of Dalaman Airport.  It is also a bustling and thriving Turkish town that remains busy out of season.  This excursion is a great way to get a feel for an alternative resort as well as to visit some of the places of interest that Fethiye and the region have to offer.

Fethiye is a fine example of a real Turkish town that doesn’t rely solely on tourism to survive, helping it to retain its authenticity and charm.  Just a stone throw from Fethiye there are historical sites to be discovered, blue lagoons to be explored and ghost villages just waiting to be entered. With an improved road network Fethiye is now only just over 2 hours drive away from Marmaris and is well worth a visit!

As part of your day out to Fethiye you will visit the natural lagoon at Olu Deniz known locally as the Blue Lagoon.  Its actual name is derived from the Dead Sea as due to the Rich mineral content it is almost impossible to sink in its waters and like its larger namesake you are able to easily float on the surface with a natural buoyancy.

You will also have the chance to visit Saklikent Gorge which is a formidable canyon lined with walkways that allow you to experience the shade and coolness of the waters as you explore this natural canyon forged out of the rocks by centuries of erosion.  There is something quite magical about the gorge as you walk along the manmade wooden paths that are built into the rocks and it is one place that should take precedence on your itinerary.

It is perhaps most difficult to think of the Fethiye area without images of the paragliders launching of the mountain just above Hisaronu and landing down at the beach in Olu Deniz.  For those of you that are brave enough you could perhaps incorporate this experience into your day out!

Marmaris Fethiye Tour Itinerary

Early in the morning you will be met in front of your hotel by a professional driver and local guide who will be ready and waiting to greet you on board a fully air conditioned coach.  You will ascend into the hills as you set off towards Fethiye.  You will receive a complimentary breakfast snack en route.

Your first stop will be at the Blue Lagoon in Olu Deniz where you will have approx. 2 hours free time to swim or explore as you choose.  Here you can enjoy the clear waters of the lagoon and discover the National Park in which it is found.  If you are brave enough to want to try paragliding it will be at this stop that this is available for you to do.

From one natural beauty to another your next stop will be at Saklikent Gorge.  Here you will be served lunch in the cool shade of the trees surrounded by nature at its most splendid.  Lunch will consist of a buffet with choices to suit all tastes and most dietary requirements.

What better way to walk off the lunch by a stroll through the gorge itself.  Your guide will take you along the wooden walkways past the faster flowing outlet of the gorge into where the water is calm and shallow.  Here you will be able to see for yourself just how cold the water is and if you’re brave enough can have a swim.

Following your gorge walk you will head back to your bus ready to make the return journey to Marmaris.  This will take around 2 hours and you will descend back into the bay of Marmaris a little tired but satisfied that you have explored a little further afield.

Q&A

How much is Marmaris Fethiye Tour?

Cost of Marmaris Fethiye Tour is 30 € for adults, 15 € for children between age 7 and 12, free for children under 6 years old in 2024.

Do I have to paraglide?

Of course you don’t have to.  Your time at Olu Deniz is yours to spend as you wish.  Just make sure you don’t leave with any regrets, after all this is the chance of a lifetime!

What days can I go?

Please check online availability as this excursion sells out fast.  Exact times will be confirmed upon reservation.

What meals are included if any?

You can relax in the knowledge that you will be well fed.  You will receive a ‘lunch box’ style breakfast and a buffet lunch is also included in the cost of the excursion.

Are drinks included too?

Drinks are not included in the cost of your tour and you should budget accordingly.  It is a good idea to bring a bottle of water with you for the journey.

Is there anything else to see at Olu Deniz? Will I have time to go to Fethiye town or Hisaronu?

You will have around 2 hours free time Olu Deniz and how you use this time is up to you.  If you don’t wish to go to the lagoon, Olu Deniz itself is a friendly seaside resort with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.  You may have time to make a short visit to Hisaronu and even Fethiye but you are expected to be back in plenty of time for the next part of the excursion.  It is unfair to keep guests waiting for passengers who do not return on time.
